1984 Donruss #448 Charlie Hudson

Mets 6, Phillies 3
Game 47 - Monday Afternoon, May 25th in Flushing
Record - 19-28

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies bullpen faltered yet again as the Phillies lost this Memorial Day matinee to the Mets, 6-3.

What It Means:  That six-game winning streak seems like a long time ago.

What Happened:  Phillies starting pitcher Severino Gonzalez was constantly in trouble in his 4 1/3 innings of work, allowing two home runs but departing with the score tied at three.  The crushing blow came in the sixth when Wilmer Flores hit a three run home run to left off reliever Justin De Fratus.  Chase Utley had two more hits in this game, including a two-run single in the third.

Featured Card:  Gonzalez struck out eight and didn't walk any Mets in his outing.  Fascinatingly enough, and courtesy of Bob Vetrone Jr. of Philly.com's BoopStats, the last Phillies starting pitcher to have at least eight strikeouts and no walks in a Phillies loss was Charles Hudson on May 31, 1983.

And now you know.
