Rainy Week Gratitude

My first week of November was much busier than I had anticipated it would be. Those weeks that don't go exactly as we had planned are some of the best weeks to think back on the good things that happened, so I am doing just that by joining with Susanne and friends over at Living to Tell the Story for Friday's Fave Five.

November rains - This past week has been mostly a cloudy overcast week.  We had some rain in the valley and more snow in the mountains which means that our water year, here in Utah, is off to a good start.

Morning warm-up - I am try to drink less of the energy drink that gets me going in the morning. That has been hard this first week of the "fall-back" time change.  My body thinks that I got up at 4:20 a.m. all week.  I have been having a warm cup of Pero, chocolate and milk in the morning and I find that it warms me up and wakes me up, without a lot of calories.

Classes finished - I have completed two more online classes, which equals another credit toward a salary increase. This is a picture of our district office complex where I had to hand-carry the paperwork proving I had completed the classes.  I have now registered for and started two more classes - another online literature course through Hillsdale College and a social and emotional wellness class through Coursera.

New fence going up - The old, rotten fence as been removed from the back of our rental house property and the new fence polls have been set.  The developer of the townhomes that are being built in back of our property is putting in the new fence at no charge to us.  He says it will be finished next week.

Increased property value - These are the new townhomes that are being built behind our rental property. They are replacing some very old, rundown apartments that had been in the area for many years.  We were surprised at what the developer told us these townhomes will be renting for.  Housing prices in Utah are NOT cheap and nice, new, high rent townhomes right behind our rental house, will only increase our property value.

A good inspection - Our property management company did an inspection of our other income property and told us that our tenants are taking great care of our little income condo.  More good news is that the same tenants wants to sign a lease for another year!

Christmas cards - the Jones Family Christmas cards for 2021 arrived this last week, and I am so pleased with how they turned out!  After doing photo Christmas cards for several years, and using different companies, I have decided that Photoaffectations  does the best job. The color on all the photos is just right, and the cards are printed on a nice quality card stock. I am not getting anything for my recommendation, this is just my observation after using other companies, like Snapfish, Shutterfly and Costco (which no longer does Christmas cards).  This is the second time we have ordered cards from Photoaffections, and I think that going forward I will order my cards from them every year.  Full disclosure - they are not the cheapest photo company, but they do have holiday deals going on.

Book group - our church women's book group met Thursday night.   It is always fun to get together with like-minded readers and talk about books.  I think my favorite part of the book group meeting is choosing our next book!

That does it for my favorite parts of this past week.  What are you most grateful for in the past seven days?

Have a good weekend.

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.  It turns what we have into enough and more.  It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion to clarity.  It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend."
