Burberry Sheer Summer Glow Powder From The Burberry 'Iconic Nude' Collection 2012

The official Burberry website describes this as:

"The effortless all-in-one highlighting compact. Four blendable shades naturally highlight and define in one simple application. Apply across the face for a fresh everyday summer glow. Use each shade separately to illuminate forehead, eyes, cheeks and chin. Suitable for all skin tones. Metallic check case with mirror. Soft check-embossed pouch."
(L - R): Burberry Beauty Brush (sold separately) and the Burberry Sheer Glow Powder.
The Colours, Texture & Finish
Sheer Summer Glow adds a pretty summer glow to the skin with a natural highlighting compact that's buildable in colour.  The idea is similar to that of Dior's summer 2012 Healthy Glow Enhancing Powders which are a highlighter and bronzer in one - designed to help create a healthy, naturally luminous skin with a subtle yet somewhat buildable tan.  There are four shades in the Burberry Seer Summer Glow compact which you can mix altogether or use separately for different parts of the face.  Clockwise from the top left: medium bronze brown, pale pink with a touch of peach beige, beige highlighter, light tan brown.

On my medium olive skin tone (~NC30), I can definitely use the darkest shade to contour and because it's neutral it looks quite natural and does the job extremely well.  Messy Wands shows off her already chiseled cheeks further enhanced by the Burberry Seer Summer Glow in her post HERE.  The beige highlighter is brilliant, because it looks quite seamless and natural when used on the high points of the face, or even to highlight the inner corners of the eyes.  Unfortunately, the pale pink is not strong enough of a colour to be able to use as a blush as I would have hoped (to add another use to this compact) - it's actually more of a highlighter as well.  That's ok, because this is not the intended purpose of the product after all.  When mixed altogether, it gives my skin a light tan which is buildable.  It looks very natural.

The powder texture is nothing short of luxurious - consistent with the rest of the powder products from Burberry.  The powder is so finely milled that it is buttery soft and smooth making it so easy to apply and blend like no other.  It really is fool-proof! ^_^

The finish is indeed a beautiful summer glow!  The skin looks noticeably more luminous and healthy.  The micro-shimmers that add sheen to the skin looks very natural and blends seamlessly with the skin and does not accentuate any large pores.  Perfect! ^_^

Those with darker skin tones from NC40 upwards can use this more as a highlighter and to add a health luminosity to their skin tone, while those on the other end of the spectrum can utilise it for highlighting, contouring or as an all over natural bronzer.
Applied against olive tan skin tone (~NC30).
(L - R): Pale pink with a touch of peach beige, and the beige highlighter.
(L - R): Medium bronze brown and light tan brown.

Swatch comparison (L - R): Diorskin Nude Glow in 'Aurora' (001) from Summer 2011, and Burberry Sheer Summer Glow Powder (all four colours mixed). If you want Burberry's to be darker, you just apply more of the darkest shade in the palette.

After: All four colours in the palette blended together.

Take 3...coz why not?
The Packaging
Outright luxurious. The sleek gunmetal compact is sturdy, substantially weighty and bears the signature Burberry check pattern on the lid.  As you can see, the pattern against the gunmetal surface is not at all too ridiculously loud and you can see it more in different angles under lighting. It's quite classy and chic methinks. I love it! The 'BURBERRY' label is also embossed on the bottom front of the compact. Colour and product description label on the bottom. Inside the compact is a mirror for on-the-go application and the compact is securely shut via a magnetic closure.

Unfortunately, unlike other powder compacts from other brands and the Burberry blushes, this one does not come with a brush.  However, since I already purchased the Burberry Beauty Brush (one of my first Burberry products I purchased) mid last year, I use this and it's perfect for it. :)  It's small enough to contour with in the hollows of my cheeks using the two darker shades of the powder.  The bristles are made of natural pony and goat hair.  It's quite soft and it blends the powder evenly across the face.  The size is also small enough to just dab on one of the four shades in the powder such as the lightest shade to highlight the high points of my cheeks and around the temples.  It's a really good compact brush to carry around, too.  It comes with a black beautiful Burberry-checked velvet pouch also.  (Annoyingly, I've currently misplaced it so couldn't show it to you. :-( )

The powder itself is also embossed with the signature Burberry check! I really love this touch. ^_^ Finally, the compact is presented in a beige (something different from the usual black) velvet pouch - yes, also with the Burberry check design.  Hehe... Yes, the check is everywhere, but I think it's still fairly understated and classy.
Even the box packaging is beautiful.  It's a thick cardboard with a 'linen' finish.  The print is embossed. LOVE!  It definitely has an expensive feel to it, and it's in the Burberry signature trench colour.

The powder has a fairly strong floral scent, which I personally find pleasant, that's consistent with the other Burberry makeup line such as their powder blushes and their Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation. I'm usually sensitive to scents in makeup, but I don't mind this at all and the fragrance does disappear shortly after applying, which is good - particularly if you're sensitive to it.

10 g / 0.35 oz.

Made in Italy
So far, I've found all the powder eye shadows and powder blushes I've tried that were made in Italy were of excellent quality. Just an observation, which leads me to believe they make good powders there.

Final Words
Another gorgeous powder from one of my favourite cosmetics brand. If you're after natural looking enhancement of your existing beauty for summer or any time of year then look no further. This is a versatile product particularly for those with fair to medium skin tones (up to NC35) that can be used as a highlighter, contouring product and as a bronzing powder. Those with deeper skin tones may find it too pricey for a highlighter - though it's a great one at that! All in all, I will definitely be getting a lot of use out of this. Fabulous! :-)

Hope this was helpful and thanks for stopping by! xo ^_^
